BT, DT choose Germany for new security centres
BT and Deutsche Telekom have opened separate security centres in Germany as they look to strengthen services for customers.
The German operator’s Cyber Defense and Security Operation Centre is in Bonn (pictured), with more than 200 employees tracking its systems and those of its customers across Germany and overseas.
Dick Backofen, Head of Telekom Security, said the opening of the centre was part of his plans to turn Bonn into “Europe’s Cyber Security Valley”.
Eschborn, near Frankfurt, is the location of BT’s new Security Operation Centre, which will track BT’s own assets as well as the network and IT infrastructure of customers to defend against attacks.
BT has a global “follow the sun” network of 15 Security Operation Centres employing more than 2,500 security specialists.
